For more than a decade, Dr. Amaka has cared for patients facing a wide range of kidney-related conditions, helping them navigate complex diagnoses, understand treatment options, and make informed decisions about their health.
Throughout her career, she has worked within some of the nation's leading healthcare institutions while also serving in leadership roles focused on improving patient outcomes, healthcare delivery, and the overall patient experience.
Yet despite advancements in medicine, one challenge remained consistent: many patients struggled to access timely specialty care, understand complicated medical information, and receive the support they needed to confidently navigate their healthcare journey.
BOLD Direct Nephrology Care was created to address those challenges through a more personalized approach, one that prioritizes education, communication, access, and meaningful physician-patient relationships.

Dr. Amaka's experience extends beyond traditional clinical practice. In addition to caring for patients, she has served in executive leadership, contributed to healthcare transformation initiatives, and advocated for improvements in healthcare systems and patient outcomes.
She most recently served as Chief Transformation Officer at Emory Healthcare and Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. Her work has focused on enhancing healthcare delivery, improving patient experiences, advancing health equity, and helping organizations navigate meaningful change.
She has also been recognized nationally for her contributions to healthcare policy, clinical leadership, and patient advocacy, helping shape important conversations surrounding healthcare standards and access to quality care.
Today, she brings that experience directly to patients through BOLD Direct Nephrology Care.

Dr. Amaka earned her Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Cornell University, her Doctor of Medicine, cum laude, from Meharry Medical College, and her Master of Public Health from Harvard University's School of Public Health.
She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital and her Nephrology Fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, both Harvard teaching hospitals.
This foundation allows her to combine academic excellence, clinical expertise, and compassionate care in every patient interaction.
